Hello 5 Month Old

My son has been doing marvelously.  He's 5 months old now and, at the risk of being hated and envied, he is one easy and happy baby.  I have no idea what I did in my life to be rewarded with such a marvelous child but I'll be sure to do it again next time.  I just hope I can remember everything.

Seriously.  I've stopped asking and started accepting that yes, I got this awesome kid who thinks I'm the funniest person alive.  I put on one of his little hats and sing, "Fat Guy in a Little Coat" from Tommy Boy and I get the loudest, breath stealing giggles from my now favorite person.
Noah, you are awesome.  I love you.  If you're reading this and it's well past 2013, just remember that I always have and always will.

Ronald Reagan?! The Actor?!

I saw a commercial for Beauty and the Beast last night and I got so excited and happy thinking holy shit, they are re-releasing it at the movies! ZOMG! I hope they have a sing-a-long! They aren't. It's just getting a release on Blu-Ray. Let me tell you, it was hard to come down from that. But then...

I find out the Alamo Drafthouse is showing Back to the Future this Saturday night. With, get this, DeLoreans in attendance!

What does this have to do with the picture of Jasmine rice? I spent the evening with B, where I made dinner involving the rice, all the while helping him with his re-certification for his work license (cause he needs more reasons for me to get a Lifetime Achievement Award for Best Sister Ever) and talking about the showing of Back to the Future.

Things I Love, Things I Want

Central Market! I just scored permission to admit to the fact that the BNC works for the HEB, a regional Texas grocery. Central Market is their specialty store much like Whole Foods but better in my completely biased opinion. :) I work near the Houston store and tend to make trips during my lunch hour. Not even going to lie that I completely abuse my discount card. Wait, is it abuse that I use it a lot? Well, maybe not.

I really want this. Rumor had it that Threadless was going to make it into a T-shirt but nothing ever materialized. Boo!

Back to the Future movie quotes are officially back into rotation with me. For example, the Astros were playing the Chicago Cubs this week and all I could think about was the quote in Back to the Future 2 where the weird old man tells Marty, "I wish I could go back in time, put some money on the Cubbies." thereby causing Marty to go back to the antiques store and purchase the sports almanac that causes so much trouble in alternate 1985. I adore this trilogy. Not the best trilogy but still awesome. Star Wars, the originals, is the best trilogy though for both movies that third part almost made them fumble a bit. Know what I mean? Oh, and Indiana Jones.

Baked Chicken for the Soul

Dear Therapy,

You've taken me on a roller coaster of emotions since I restarted several weeks ago and while I'm glad that I recognized that an appointment was in order, I'm starting to get anxiety. Sigh. After several attempts at trying to make things better for my family and my older brother, a break-up with him is in order. There is absolutely no salvaging our relationship. For once, I will have to choose my happiness, self-worth (cause I'm awesome) over that of my family and how they will react to my news. The problem is much deeper than just the both of us not seeing eye to eye over the past decade+. But, to pretend that I could just suck it up and continue to be is just not working. I was a fool to think I could play it off for the rest of my life. But, as usual, I have no regrets. Regret is a useless emotion because absolutely nothing can be done about it unless you own a time machine or, better yet, have a Doc Brown and a DeLorean laying around. Oh, don't forget your flux capacitor.

Sigh. Look at me make jokes about it. Deflection!

Even as I sit here, I have that feeling in the pit of my stomach, the eerie feeling of fear/anxiety/relief/excitement that can only come when you are about to do something you should have done a long time ago. I don't know when I am planning on doing this but I know I have to. Talking to B though is at the top of my anxiety list though. The last thing I want to do is burden him and have him caught in the middle. So, it may just have to wait until after summer simply because it will just be a better time but, then again, there is no "perfect" time. It's going to suck but I know it's for the best.

I've been mulling this post for a while but I wanted to post it regardless because it deals with me and you, Therapy. Some of my family may be unaware of you but I really don't keep it a secret amongst some of my friends. I wish more people recognized the need for you because it helps to talk to someone especially someone not directly involved with the subject of your therapy sessions. It's much like being open here online. What it is about the anonymity that makes us reveal things?

Regardless of how things play out later this summer, Therapy, know that I am happy I picked up the phone and called you. I'm happy that we have our weekly sessions to talk about things I never saw before. Thank you for the praise on my self-awareness, my coping skills and my sense of worth. The symbolic pat on the back, session after session, is much appreciated even if, after I leave for the day, I feel incredibly sad and apprehensive as I drive home and wonder what is going to come next from what I know I have to do.

Lastly, in an effort to not make you sad about you making me sad, here is a photo of the baked chicken I made yesterday seasoned with salt, pepper and Old Bay seasoning because it's absolutely yummy. The leftovers for lunch were yummy as well.

Love you,

Margie

You Built a Time Machine...Out of a DeLorean?!

Back to the Future is one of my all-time favorite movies. I adore this movie. So, after having lunch for Good Friday with B and my mom, I saw this. It was tricky trying to take a picture with my camera phone but there it is, in all its splendor! A MFing DeLorean!!! It made my day. My inner dork was so happy.

Careful, don't hit 88 mph!!!

They found me, I don't know how but they found me.

I could quote this movie all day long. Hmmm, I wonder if they have a Scene-It Back to the Future? BTW, Hot Tub Time Machine, yo!

Thank You

Jasmine rice has been my savior this Lent season. However, I'm certain I won't consume it as much once I can lather myself in sweet and delicious pasta. It's good and I finally found a brand to stick to; Mahatma. I don't have to rinse it!! Unfortunately it trumps the one that the BNC works for. They can't all be winners.

"They found me. I don't know how but they found me."
"Who?"
"Who do you think? The Lybians! Run Marty!!"

Back to the Future was on last night and, while I took a sleeping pill to combat my insomnia, thus ensuring I knock out early (9p), I had to stay up just a little longer for this scene. It's one of my most favorite movies.
