City Girl

I'm a city girl. I, for whatever reason, cannot see myself living in a small town. I enjoy visiting my peoples who live in small towns but to live there just doesn't sound like me.

I live near the downtown area of Houston and know this area so well that to leave it, like those 3 years when I moved to the outskirts, is unnatural. But, I'm back in the hood, eating tacos and raspas, hanging with my family, in-laws and my BFF.

Better yet, my one-way commute went from 30 minutes to less than 10. Wut, wut!

And I don't care that the heat is making us into whiny, spoiled children who want nothing more than to swim in a pool of raspas, I still love you. I love going to the sporting events, the festivals (though I seriously miss the Heights Festival) and the food. Keep on truckin' and don't you listen to those Dallas folks. We hate the Cowboys, remember?

I didn't realize you lived so close to the citay.

I have moments where I envision Mike and myself living in an old farmhouse in the country (just watched Gilbert Grape on Saturday, if that explains) but I always come back to my 20-mins-outside-DC roots.

Cannonball in a raspa pool would be glorious.

Burger Barn!

Sometimes I feel that way. I become upset with the traffic, the loud noises, the lack of a great view of the night sky, the fact that I can't mow a lawn, etc. But, then I remember that there is always something to do, something to see. I love Houston too much to permanently leave it.
